Seven-time champion Stephen Hendry has joined Ali Carter in the last four of the 888.com World Snooker Championship after completing a comfortable 13-7 victory over Welshman Ryan Day.

Hendry had shown fine form yesterday, racing into an 8-1 lead at one point before the end of the evening session. When play resumed today he started 11-5 in front, needing just two more frames for victory.

The Scot took the opening frame with breaks of 48 and 36 and although Day won the next two with runs of 49 and 71, the 28-year-old was merely delaying the inevitable as Hendry qualified for a record 12th Crucible semi-final.
