HERIOT'S bagged all five league points in a high-paced encounter that hung in the balance right to the final whistle.
Chris Fusaro opened the scoring for Heriot's, but his try was cancelled out by Colin Murray before the home side assumed control and reached the break 17-5 ahead with Colin Goudie racing in from halfway for try No.2 and Michael Short claiming the third, this time converted by Graham Wilson.

Craig Neish trimmed the deficit with a penalty a minute after the restart but the home side's response was immediate – Andy Douglas grabbing the bonus-point score after a slick move.

Neish stroked over another penalty to kick-start the Borderers and they clawed their way into the contest when Rory Hutton darted over for a fine solo score. Neish converted to leave Hawick four points adrift and, despite opportunities at both ends, the position was unchanged as the game entered injury time.

Hawick battled throughout a fraught additional seven minutes but had to settle for a bonus point.
